FARM HAND

We are looking for someone to be our lead farm hand, and join us in the fields 4 days per week. We are hoping to find a fun, energetic person with excellent work ethic who ideally:

​

  • has market gardening experience / extensive backyard gardening experience / farm experience

  • -OR tree planting experience and a keen and serious passion for learning how to grow food

  • is knowledgeable about local food systems and production, and has an understanding of why they are important and how they play a role in healthy communities

  • is available and eager to work 4 days per week outside all day in all weather conditions including hot sun, rain, storms, you name it.

  • thrives off of hard work. This is a physically demanding job and requires a mindset that can support that. We love working in our gardens, we have fun while working hard, and want our team members to do the same :)

  • is punctual, reliable, and can lift 25-50lbs

​

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • building and prepping garden beds (pitch/broadforking, raking, amending, mulching, etc)

  • seeding, transplanting

  • bed and crop maintenance (weeding, pest management, crop specific duties, etc)

  • building fences, trellises, setting up crop protection, general farm chores

  • harvesting, processing, packaging 

  • general irrigation maintenance

​

This position can start as early as March (two days per week). As soon as the snow melts and we can get into the gardens, it will move to 4 days per week.

​

Preference will be given to someone who can commit to the full season April - October.

​

Wage to be determined based on experience.

​

*there is an opportunity for this to be a 5 day per week job, with day 5 taking place indoors at our microfarm for 6 hours.

STUDENT FARM HAND + YOUTH INTERN

We are looking to welcome a student to our team this season. This person will be returning to full-time school in September. The position will be 20 hours per week, and there is an opportunity for a set schedule.

​

If you are a student and are interested in a part-time, fully outdoor, physical job and are interested in learning about growing food, we would love to hear from you! 

​

Please read the above job description, as the student farm hand position is similar in nature. Student applicants are not required to have previous farm or market garden experience (we will teach you), but we hope to welcome someone who is passionate about learning to grow food and learning about local food systems.

​

*this position is dependent on secured funding

Starting wage $17/hr.

The Youth Intern position is meant for someone who is looking to begin a career or life in food production or farming, who is under the age of 30, who can work 32-40 hours per week. 

​

This role will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about most aspects of running a market garden. Please see the above job description for a basic list of duties. 

​

Starting wage $18.50/hr. Wage reviews every 6 weeks.

​

FARM + SALES

This position is a mixed-role with a focus on sales. 

​

The successful applicant will work 4-5 days per week at our downtown retail farm store, The Rooted Table Collective.

​

We are hoping to find someone who:

  • has excellent customer service skills, is friendly and kind

  • is punctual, reliable and eager to work

  • is passionate about local food systems, growing food, and supporting / prioritizing local farms

  • has previous retail experience

  • has excellent attention to detail

  • takes initiative and is self-motivated

  • is creative and can easily update and maintain store displays

​

We will start this position when we find the right person, which can be as early as March. Wage will be dependent on experience.

​

We are looking for someone who is interested in a long-term position with us, with the potential to take on a supervisory role! 

​

If you are an avid skier, hours can be reduced to accommodate pow days in the winter!
